What is Body Confidence Anyway?


Definition of Body Confidence:

Body confidence is how a person feels about the way they look. When we have body confidence we accept, and are happy with, how we look and what our bodies can do.

Lets also talk about the opposite... Lack of Body Confidence.

What is a lack of body confidence?

A negative body image involves being overly focused on comparing your size, shape, or appearance to unrealistic ideals. Holding yourself to a thin-ideal or an athletic-ideal may cause you to develop unhealthy self-talk, low self-esteem, or disordered eating patterns.

We have all been there with lacking body confidence, comparing our bodies to another persons, wishing we looked different, mentally abusing ourselves over an ideal that is impossible to reach because our body shape and type just wouldn't achieve that.

I will hold my hands up and say I have mentally abused myself, over criticized my body for the way it looks and still to this day it happens occasionally but no where near as often as it did.

How I helped myself to stop? And what you can do too?

  • Focus not on how your body looks but what it can achieve. For example, walking, running, jumping, holding hands, laughing, hugging, swimming (very badly lol), smiling and so much more!

  • Working out not with losing weight as my main focus but with focusing on being able to lift heavier weights, run that bit faster, walk for longer distances and how it also helps me mentally.

  • Eating colourful food full of flavour and different textures, eating healthily helps you to feel good on the inside.

  • Not beating myself up when I've eaten something "bad", because life is all about balance and no one can be "good" all the time and eating the odd sweet, donut, bag of crisps, take away isn't going to ruin you or your progress

  • Focusing on positive self talk, I am brave, I am strong, I can accomplish anything I put my mind to, I am beautiful, I am kind and caring. Positive self talk and words of affirmation repeated over and over helps to cement these beliefs.


I am all about body positivity and body confidence and have always promoted this. I had a client say to me that by offering fat dissolving treatments I am going against this ethos and promoting people to change their bodies.

But she couldn't of been more wrong (no I do not believe the customer is always right) because fat dissolving isn't about altering or changing your body completely, it is about enhancing your natural beauty.

It doesn't drastically change your shape, it removes small pockets of fat. This treatment isn't for weight loss, it is to shape and define what you already have!


This treatment also works best alongside a healthy lifestyle so this not only helps to enhance your natural beauty but encourages you to change your lifestyle to a healthier one, ensuring you are beautiful on the inside too.
